When mining coal and ore underground the pit water which accumulates
has to be pumped away to prevent it from flowing through the working
area. Normally this is done by pumping the pit water to the surface.
Right from the start DUCHTING PUMPEN created a solution for retaining
the water in the mine using heavy-duty centrifugal high-pressure pumps.
The high-pressure pumps of the HK
series, of conventional construction with a high voltage motor,
are set up in underground chambers excavated for the purpose. The
collected pit water is usually fed to the high-pressure pumps via
water collection points either by free flow or by means of feeder
pumps. Pit water is not completely free of solid particles and chemical
compounds, so,
as a good standard DUCHTING PUMPEN adopts a normal speed of 1450
1/min
with high-grade austenitic stainless steel as the material. If the
pit water is particularly pure, higher speeds (3000 or 3600 1/min) are
economically possible with two-pole motors.
Production Series:
Thanks to the high pumping performance of the HK pumps, the expense
of pumping from level to level is avoided and the possibility of automating
this type of pumping station becomes economical. In comparison to
under-water motor pumps, high-pressure pumps of conventional build
have proven their worth due to their robustness and long life.
High-pressure pumps of the HK series in conjunction with the DUCHTING PUMPEN DH
series can also be used for hydraulic extraction. If there is
suitable pit water available and the environment is right, this type
of extraction can be more economical for suitable seam thickness.
High-pressure
pumps of the HK and LHK
range are also used in the mines for cooling systems using large heat
exchangers. For decades now, our medium-size HK10 series has been
the most frequently bought pump for secondary water retention.
As far as the exploitation of coal and ore at surface level is concerned,
DUCHTING PUMPEN can offer a very robust and - as a result of
its high operating ratio - also a very efficient solution with its
DH series. Due to their construction, all known high carbon steels
can be built into the DH pumps.
The wear plates are clamped in. The modular construction of the DH
range allows an optimal selection of build sizes, tailor made for
the specific
application. The back pull out design of the DH series permits inspection
of the
wearing parts with little effort.
